Well, hey there, and welcome to Straight from the Stylist Chair. This is a special QA series here on All About Hair. I'm your host, Denise Keilitz, and I'm here to answer the real questions clients ask in the salon so you can feel confident and love every visit. Hey there and welcome back to Straight from the Stylist Chair. This is the mini-series that's helping you love your hair with less stress, or I've been told. Today's question is how often should I use heat tools? Can you flat iron your hair every day? Or is that frying your hair? Let's talk about heat limits when it comes to your hair. Many people love daily styling but worry about long-term damage. There's a myth that heat protectant alone can save your hair. Now, look, I am one of those people that says you need to use heat protectant to save your hair every day, all day. But overuse of your heat appliances can still cause dryness and breakage, even if you're using a heat protectant, because overuse or misuse is still going to cause damage. So you want to make sure if you are using your hair tools every single day, make sure you keep them under 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Always use a protectant and try to aim for only using your heat tools two to three times a week if possible. You know, mix up some heatless styles a couple of days a week. You know, put it in a ponytail or braids or um scrunching some mousse and make it wavy or something. You don't have to fully restyle your hair with heat every single day. And here's the result that you're gonna get if you can train yourself to quit reaching for that um curling iron or your flat iron. You're gonna get more polished, smoother styles without sacrificing your hair's health. Hey, thanks for hanging out with me today. I hope today's chat helps you walk into your next appointment feeling totally confident.
