Well, hey there, and welcome to Straight from the Stylist Chair. This is a special QA series here on All About Hair. I'm your host, Denise Keilitz, and I'm here to answer the real questions clients ask in the salon so you can feel confident and love every visit. Hi there and welcome back to Straight from the Stylist Chair, where I share real salon tips for guests and pros alike. Today's question is why does my blonde hair turn brassy? Oh my goodness. Hey, before I get started, I do have a video on this. I will try to link it in the show notes. But if you want to, you can go over and watch on my YouTube channel. I really break this down. But this is just a short QA today. Have you ever left with the salon and your blonde looks cool and icy? And then just a few weeks later, or a few washes later, hello, brass. Here's why it happens. I know it's a it's an awful problem. Brassiness creeps in fast and it makes fresh blonde feel dull or yellow. And we've all seen that, right? In the grocery stores, you're standing behind somebody and their hair looks really, I don't know, orange. Well, here's what happens: heat styling, sun, hard water, and fading toner are the culprits that most people just don't realize. Uh, what happens is all of this opens up your your cuticle, and your those little hair molecules seep out of your hair, and then what's left is what's underneath or the underlying pigment that the color or the bleach has brought your hair to when it was going through the process. That's a lot. Go watch the video, it'll explain it. The solution is to use a purple shampoo weekly, which will neutralize yellow in your hair. You can install a shower filter if you have hard water, and you want to make sure you're keeping your heat low on your hairstyling appliances, and always schedule toner refreshers or glosses in between your big color appointments. Look, your blonde, you want it to stay bright, cool, and fresh, not brassy and tired. So just follow these tips and you'll be good to go. Hey, thanks for hanging out with me today. I hope today's chat helps you walk into your next appointment feeling totally confident. For more tips and stories, keep listening to the full All About Hair podcast and grab the free resource in the show notes. Until next time, I'll save you a seat in the chair.
