Speaker 1:

I read this great article and it really got me thinking about haircuts and I had a conversation with someone. Haircuts you can kind of tell just by the haircut about, like if someone's in charge of something, right, like if you had an executive of a company and they're in this nice crisp blazer and suit, you know, and they're really dressed to the nines, but their hair is not on point, something's not right. So it really started making me think, yeah, your hair and your outfit actually do have to go together, right. So let's talk about bob haircuts in general. Okay, there's typically two main types of bobs, and if you don't know what a bob haircut is, it's basically like anything above your shoulders, right, like a one-length haircut above your shoulders. It could be layered, but it's a bob, okay. So you either have a really sharp, precise bob, like a French bob haircut, which a French bob haircut is typically cut above your chin line and is really sharp. But then you also have your textured and your carefree bobs. They're a little bit longer, maybe they hit just at your collarbone, just skimming your shoulders, maybe they have some loose layers in there. You need to know which one you fall into and then that's going to guide you in your overall fashion decisions. I hope you guys get a little bit out of this like I did.

Speaker 1:

I just thought it was an interesting take on things. Have you thought about using contrasting colors to make your bob stand out? It's more than just wearing black and white. Yeah, those are contrasting colors. Don't get me wrong. I wear a lot of black and white. Anybody who knows me. It's easy. But think about this. It's easy, but think about this.

Speaker 1:

If you have a blonde bob, why don't you set your blonde bob off by wearing deeper colors, like your dark maroons? It's getting to be fall time so you can pull this off. And then your brunettes, your bobs, might look better with lighter tones, a white blouse or lighter pastel colored blouses. It'll really set off your hair because, think about it, if you have darker hair and you're wearing darker colors, it's just going to blend in, true, yeah? So if you really want to make it pop, that's what I'd probably do. And then blonde, copper and red bobs will even pop more. When you're wearing all black minimalist style, think about tone on tone. You're going to look chic, yes, but if you have like a soft nineties bob, it's going to look a little bit better with, like linen shirts, block colors, with like linen shirts, block colors, wearing two different colors on top, such as beige, khaki, and it just gives you more of a relaxed feel about your hair.

Speaker 1:

I just thought this was really interesting. This is just the tip number one, but when I was talking in a conversation I was like, yeah, think about that. If you have somebody who has a bob haircut and it's say it's a French bob and it's really crisp and you don't really picture them wearing baggy Well, I'm not saying baggy, but just real, real casual clothes it seems like a French bob goes with a French style. I remember I used to have this book. I think I still have it. It was a beautiful coffee table book by Frederick Frederick Pakai and it was all about French style. Oh, my goodness, if I'll try to find it and I'll try to leave the link in the show notes, it's a in the 2000s I think, but it is classic, classy style that never goes out of fashion. You know the French, you know they are always in fashion and most of those women have very classic bob haircuts. They never go out of style. Anyway, if you're looking for something like that, um, I just thought it was an interesting um take and a different idea of uh, looking at things. All right.

Speaker 1:

So tip number two play with your necklines. Um, so, one of the greatest things about having shorter hair is the ability to show off your neckline. So, like a V-neck. It works beautifully with textured bobs and it just gives you an elongating effect of your neck. And maybe you have an A-line bob and an A-line bob is a little bit shorter in the back, a little bit longer in the front, it's above your shoulders. Shorter in the back, a little bit longer in the front, it's above your shoulders. But if you have one of these, you can do like off the shoulder or even those boat necklines, but that really shows off that haircut beautifully. But play around with your necklines. You know, t-shirts that have a v-neck tend to make your neck look a little bit longer anyway, and then when you have shorter hair, it even accentuates that even more.

Speaker 1:

Tip number three experiment with patterns and textures. Okay, if you know me, I'm not really into patterns. I don't. I don't have a lot of clothes that have patterns and you probably know your style too. I mean, uh, there's people out there that they wear patterns all day long and they look beautiful and they're comfortable and they're fun and artsy and all that good stuff. So bold patterns are not off limits with when, when you have a bob haircut at all, play around with it. It looks great. The, the bobs look great. With bold patterns. It's almost like, you know, like a yin and yang. If you have, like this, really sharp, contrasty haircut and then you have a patterned outfit, it's almost I don't know it gives you a little bit of friction and kind of it's kind of fun.

Speaker 1:

If you have a little bit more texture in your hair, you can go a little bit bolder in your patterns. Actually, I just encourage you, just experiment. Experiment with the prints, with the patterns, and it'll just complement your hair type. Also, what complements texture in your hair is if you have highlights on the tips or the ends of your hair, that actually helps enhance movement and texture in your haircut. I'm actually going to get ready to do that to my hair because I just feel like it's a little bit dull and if you would like to hear a little bit more about how to do that, or maybe I should make a video on that, because it really does give you more movement in your haircut. So think about that.

Speaker 1:

All right, with that said, you can take a sharp, sharp bob and ask your stylist to give you some loose layers in your bob so you can wear it different ways. So maybe you blow dry it smooth and straight so it looks really sleek, business-like, corporate-like. But then on the weekends or when you date night or whatever, you take a curling iron to those top layers, add some movement to it and you get a looser, more texture to your hair. The same with your clothing. Right, a really sharp bob if you don't have any layers, so you still have this sharp bob. You can soften your look. You know, take the blazer off, take the corporate outfit outfit off and soften it with, like looser, layered clothing with more texture, like a linen shirt, boho style outfits. That really softens the bob. It actually looks really good together. Really softens the bob. It actually looks really good together. I've seen pictures with really boho styles with this sharp bob and it looks really artsy and it looks really good.

Speaker 1:

All right, how about tip number five embracing high necklines for winter looks, oh my gosh, this looks so great For those of you that have that super short sleek bobs when you pair that with a turtleneck oh, my gosh, that looks so, so good. Again, think of the french and how that looks. It just screams power. Put your blazer on top of it maybe you have a crisp shirt. It's just, oh, it's just the pairing of that short, sleek bob with a turtleneck, with tailored blazers, really corporate look. That is a power move.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I know this is kind of a different discussion. I just thought it was kind of I don't know eye-opening to start looking around, looking at people that have bob haircuts, see how they're dressed. I don't know if I would do that at the grocery store because you never know what you're going to see, but you can. I mean, I do it all the time, right? So, anyway, so some of the main topics okay, let me review those just real fast is contrasting colors. It doesn't have to be black and white, it could be just two different contrasting colors.

Speaker 1:

Or if you have blonde hair, wear darker colors to make it stand out and if you have brown hair, wear lighter colors to make your hair stand out. And then choose your neckline to help highlight and frame your haircut. So if you have a shorter haircut, that neckline, a V-neck, would really really help show off your neck. Or if you have an A-line bob, you can do maybe off the shoulder. That would look really, really good. And then also, don't be afraid to play with patterns and textures, especially if you have a layered bob. It really plays well together. And then you can also soften your sharper looking bobs with looser layered clothing. And then also, my favorite, pairing that turtleneck or a high neckline with a sharp bob. Ooh, a power dresser indeed. Okay, just remember your hair is part of your overall style, so don't forget that.

Speaker 1:

I, I, I, I guess I just assume that we think like that, and I don't think everybody thinks that way. So don't be afraid to experiment and see what makes your bob really stand out. You know, you never know. This might make you think differently about your outfits. Again, I don't think you picture somebody with a really sharp, crisp haircut laying on a couch like a couch potato. Maybe you do, I don't know. We all have those days.

Speaker 1:
