About ready to give up your career and become a permanent beach bum? Read through these tips to help you combat burnout before you throw in the towel.

GET OUT OF THE SALON:

First and foremost, take a break. Take a day, a weekend, or if you can, a week off. Sometimes that’s all it takes to reinvigorate you.

CHANGE IT UP:

Add new services, redo your retail area, or change up your background music. A “new” environment can help to break the boredom of your routine.

LEARN SOMETHING NEW:

Go to a tradeshow. If there isn’t a show coming up, then take a class. If you can’t take a class, what about meeting up with other stylists in your area to share ideas? Maybe visit other top salons to see what they do that you don’t. You just might find some inspiration to take back to your business.

BECOME A MENTOR:

Use your experience for good. Find a newbie and teach her everything you know. You might find that teaching others helps you see things in a whole new light.

CHANGE ROLES:

Maybe it IS time for you to hand in your stylist hat, but for an even bigger and better one. Have you ever considered becoming an educator or an instructor, or even opening up your own salon? Maybe it’s time to take the next step in your career.

How to Survive burnout. Yeah, I know you might be brand new to this industry. But there's some of you that have been going strong. And I tell you since COVID, our salons have been busy. Well, hey there, this is Denise. And this is the salon ownership Made Easy podcast for salon owners who are searching for simple solutions to their everyday challenges. I've owned several six and seven figure award winning salons in my 30 year career. With so many changes happening in our industry these days, it seems like salon owners need a shoulder a hug and a big dose of reality. Think about it. We didn't learn how to be successful salon owners in beauty school. So why don't you let me share what has worked and what hasn't worked for me over the years, you do have what it takes to be amazingly successful. So let's do this. I'm excited you're here. If you're in business to make 2023 your best year ever in your salon, you want to be sure to get signed up on our waiting list for our brand new course, no better do better. Your entire roadmap for salon success. It's gonna include best interview practices, onboarding, how to develop your values and culture, how to train your front desk, taking the fear out of selling retail, knowing your numbers, so you can make a profit, how to coach your team to success and so much more to get your name on our waiting list. So you'll be the first to know about it. Just go over to salon ownership made easy.com forward slash waitlist. We'll see you there. I know there's their stylists out there working 12 hour days. And it's It's hardcore. I mean, the money's good, right? But you get tired, you tired. So what if you're, you're feeling a little burnout, and you just want to be a beach bum for the rest of your days, you'd be like I quit, well don't quit, hopefully don't quit. Maybe just give me to get out of the salon, maybe you just need a vacation, maybe you just need to take a weekend, drive away go a change of scenery. Sometimes it's just as little as that, you know, just take a whole week off, you deserve it right? If you've been Go Go going. So maybe you just need to change it up a bit, maybe add some new services to your menu or learn a new technique, or change the music in the salon. Sometimes that's all it takes is just to get just kick the boredom out of your routine just a little bit. Like I just said, maybe just go learn something new. Take a class. And if there's not a class in your area, there's tons online, you know, take a YouTube class, sometimes it's a lot more fun to learn hands on. I do know that but maybe meet up with other stylists in the area and share some knowledge work. You know what, take a field trip to another salon, maybe a high end salon, get your hair blown out and kind of take a look around and see what they do. That maybe you can incorporate in what your customer experience might look like. And just see if you can tweak up a few things. You know, just learn a little bit like that. Another suggestions, become a mentor. Anytime that you're feeling stuck, or I don't know, just a little off when you're of service to someone else. Or if you can help someone else in their path in their journey. It always makes you feel better. So maybe you take that new stylist and you say Hey, can I show you a new haircut? Or hey, how you doing on your Bali, asure, Hey, how's your timing or whatever. But if you can become service to that, or go to your local beauty school, and say, Hey, is there anybody who would like to come shadow me, and it kind of just upped your game just a little bit, if you know what I mean. And if you've thought about those couple of things to do, and you're still kind of feeling like, restless or bored, or I don't even know if burnout is the right word for it, maybe it is time to change things up. Maybe this is the time if you've been thinking of being a salon owner, hey, maybe if you wanted to be a sweet owner, or an educator, or an instructor or, or whatever, maybe it's just taking it to the next level. maybe now's your time. And I do know there's a lot of a lot of different roads out there and a lot of opportunity out there for everybody in our industry. So anyway, these are just a couple of ideas and suggestions in case you are, you know, faced with burnout, because it happens to all of us.
